On October 22, 2024, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law successfully applied to join the University Recognition Program (URP) of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and was honored with the "Bronze Partner" certification. 

CAS is the only actuarial organization globally that focuses exclusively on property and casualty risks. Since its establishment in 1914, it has been dedicated to the cultivation of actuaries and professional education, promoting the development and application of actuarial science in property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, and risk management. With over 10,000 members worldwide, CAS is active in property insurance, reinsurance, finance, risk management, and other fields. To date, 47 universities globally have passed the CAS's university certification program, and certified universities will receive special funding from CAS for actuarial education and research.

The URP, short for University Recognition Program, is an actuarial university project established by CAS to serve global higher education institutions. The URP program comprehensively evaluates applicant universities in various aspects such as curriculum system construction, teaching and research teams, talent cultivation achievements, and career planning and development. Currently, only 50 universities worldwide have obtained CAS-URP certification. By passing the CAS-URP certification, our students will have the opportunity to be prioritized in the selection process and participate in the CAS summer camp. During this summer camp, not only will there be multiple seasoned actuaries from around the world teaching, leading participants to learn about practical topics such as product pricing, valuation, and IFRS17, but participants who attend the entire CAS summer camp will also receive one free exam opportunity from CAS. Meanwhile, as a partner university, the association will provide our university with actuarial exams, case studies, and other reference materials in the future, sharing the latest developments in the property insurance field with our students. Additionally, our faculty members can attend various official CAS events such as the CAS China Annual Meeting and the Asian Casualty Actuarial Teaching Forum for free.

The evaluation process for the Bronze Partner certification is comprehensive and rigorous, covering various aspects such as faculty quality, curriculum design, research strength, academic activities, and industry-academia collaboration. Our university's ability to stand out and receive high recognition from CAS is not only an important achievement of our university's internationalization and "Double First-Class" construction efforts but also a full affirmation of the quality and level of our actuarial education.
