"Longing for Home as the Moon is Full, the Fragrance of Mooncakes Conveys Deep Affection" - The School of Finance Holds a Mid-Autumn Festival Theme Event for International Students in China

On the morning of September 14th at 9:30, the School of Finance held a Mid-Autumn Festival themed event for international students of the class of 2024 at Room 423, Wenhuan Building. In attendance were Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Finance Wang Ping, Dean of the School of International Education Zheng Ying, Vice Dean of the School of Finance Hu Hongbing, Head of the Tutor Group for International Students at the School of Finance Gu Lulu, representative teachers from the School of Finance and the School of International Education, and all international students from the School of Finance. 

Civilizations exchange and create a grand blueprint together. Zhongnan University of Economics and Law is not only a fertile ground for nurturing talents but also a bridge for the exchange of civilizations. This Mid-Autumn Festival event was designed to allow international students from around the world to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and to enhance cultural exchange and understanding. On the Mid-Autumn Festival, a symbol of reunion and harmony, Vice Dean Hu Hongbing expressed his sincere concern for the prosperity of the nation and the common destiny of all mankind. He pointed out that international students are encouraged to delve into Chinese culture, contribute to the development of Chinese civilization, and lay a solid foundation for becoming ambassadors of friendship between China and the world in the future.


Studying at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, we soar together as one. Bilivogui Pierre, a representative of the doctoral international students from the class of 2022, shared his understanding and feelings about the Mid-Autumn Festival, marveling at the profoundness of Chinese culture and expressing his values and gratitude for the teachings of the school and teachers. He stated, "In this era of globalization, we are fortunate to be messengers of cultural exchange, sharing the beautiful customs of China with friends around the world."

Gifty Boakye-Boateng, a representative of the new master's international students from the class of 2024, expressed her longing for her family and the warmth she feels at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. She believes that profound cultural exchange not only aids in academic progress but also helps in correctly understanding Chinese culture and concepts. She said, "Tonight, as we look up at the moon, I hope it reminds us that no matter where we come from, we share the same sky, the same friendship, and unity."

Making mooncakes by hand, sharing homesickness. The school had prepared ingredients such as glutinous rice flour, boiling water, mooncake fillings, natural coloring agents, and mooncake molds in advance, aiming to allow the international students to deeply experience Chinese culture by making mooncakes with their own hands. Under the guidance of the teachers, the students began to mix the dough, knead, wrap the fillings, shape, and mold the mooncakes. Amidst the hustle and bustle, there was an atmosphere of laughter and joy.


Joyfully crafting lanterns, delighting in the Mid-Autumn Festival. Appreciating lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. It not only enriches the festive atmosphere but also carries people's wishes for a beautiful life. Making lanterns by hand not only enhances the festive spirit, allowing international students to feel the joy and warmth of the holiday and increasing their sense of happiness in life, but also expresses longing for family members. Moreover, through the process of interacting and collaborating with classmates and teachers, it fosters mutual understanding and friendship.


Gentle breezes brush by, and the moonlight spreads across the ground. The Mid-Autumn Festival, like a bright silver platter, illuminates the warmth and emotional bonds deep within our hearts. On this enchanting night, the moonlight is like an invisible thread, tightly connecting us no matter where we are. The friendship between teachers and students is as pure and enduring as the bright moonlight. International students have expressed that this is the most memorable Mid-Autumn Festival they have experienced in a foreign land. Through this event, they have not only deepened their understanding of Chinese traditional culture but also made friends from different countries and cultural backgrounds, gaining valuable friendships and memories.
