The School of Finance Successfully Hosts the 2024 International Students' Library Resource Access and Utilization Training Lecture
(Correspondents Cao Chenlu, Zhang Siwen) On October 15th, sparks of knowledge shone brightly in Wenquan Building! In order to further enhance international students' understanding of library resources and services, and to improve the efficiency of learning and scientific research, the School of Finance specially organized a training lecture on library resource access and utilization for all international students. Vice Dean Hu Hongbing, Head of the International Student Tutor Group Gu Lulu, Deputy Director of the University Library Consultation Department Feng Jie, Graduate Teaching Secretary Cao Chenlu, and international master's and doctoral students from the School of Finance participated in this lecture. The lecture was given by Deputy Director Feng Jie and hosted by Professor Gu Lulu.
At the beginning of the lecture, Vice Dean Hu Hongbing delivered an exciting speech, warmly welcoming and thanking the teachers from the library, and welcoming the master's and doctoral international students who entered in 2024. He emphasized the irreplaceable role of library resources in academic research and encouraged everyone to make good use of them to build their academic path.
Subsequently, Teacher Feng Jie introduced the overview and various services of the library in a simple and profound manner in English, including the methods of borrowing and returning books, how to use the library's databases, and introduced the book borrowing system and purchase recommendation channels closely related to international students, giving everyone present a new understanding of the library's treasures. Finally, in response to the questions raised by the international students, Teacher Feng Jie provided detailed explanations and guidance.
Following that, Sarpong Francis Atta, a 2022 international student from the School of Finance, and Dismas Mwacha, a new member of 2024, took turns sharing their experiences using the two major English databases, EndNote and Mendeley. They also demonstrated how to efficiently manage literature and improve research efficiency on the spot, from which the students present greatly benefited.
This lecture has inspired international students to delve into and utilize the rich resources provided by the library, significantly enhancing their learning and research efficiency.
