The School of Finance held the International Student Mentor Meeting

At 8:30 am on September 14, the School of Finance held the 2024 International Student Mentor Meeting in Room 423 of the Wenhuan Building. Attending the event were Hu Hongbing, Vice President of the School of Finance; Gu Lulu, head of the International Student Mentor Group of the School of Finance; Chen Sichong, Deng Xiang, Qiao Xiaotuo, Zheng Xinrui, representative teachers of the International Student Mentor Group; Wang Xiujing, Director of the Office of Graduate Studies; Cao Chenlu, Secretary of graduate education; as well as all new international students of the 2024 cohort from the School of Finance.


The event began with a short film, allowing the new international students to get acquainted with the School of Finance.They gained insights into the school's history, notable achievements, and faculty through the English promotional video, and received warm advice and best wishes from the mentors.


As the new semester commences, Vice Dean Hu Hongbing extended a welcome to the new international students on behalf of all faculty members. He encouraged them to actively communicate with their mentors, approach their studies with humility and enthusiasm, and quoted from the Book of Rites to reflect the excellent qualities of the School of Finance's teaching team: A teacher is one who teaches not only the craft but also imparts moral values. Professor Gu Lulu provided a detailed introduction to the training program, study plans and graduation requirements, offering cordial advice to the attending international students.

To deepen the understanding of the new international students and promote interaction between mentors and students, the students briefly introduced themselves, their educational background, and major. The international students gave short self-introductions, shared their educational experiences, and expressed their expectations for their future academic life, enhancing mutual understanding between mentors and students. The mentors not only shared their academic experiences and research fields, but also provided practical advice on how to effectively utilize campus resources and balance study and life.


Amidst the relaxed and joyful exchanges between mentors and students, the 2024 International Student Mentor Meeting came to a successful conclusion. The School of Finance is committed to providing high-quality educational experiences for international students. Through the International Student Mentor Meeting, the School of Finance hopes to further enhance the sense of belonging among international students and assist them in smoothly transitioning to their new learning environment.
